The burners are placed off balance and are hard to see, I am always adjusting the pots for accurate cooking. The convection oven is awful. The cookies placed at the back burn, the muffins and cakes do not bake evenly or have hardened in places. The chicken takes a long time to roast and wasn’t done evenly, even the simple boneless chicken breasts. Anything on separate racks does not cook evenly. There is a continuous heating popping sound. The repair guy was here already, that is the way the stove is manufactured. I don’t even use the convection anymore! I’m disappointed! And I just bought this range in January 2018!! I wish I could trade it in.

Never an issue till the end. We looked at other ranges, LG, Samsung, Whirlpool etc but came back to our Old faithful brand, Kitchenaid. The improvements were the reason I purchased it. Larger oven for more flexibility in cooking, with enough space to have multiple dishes in the oven at the same time, 2 sourdough loaves etc. The stovetop is easier to clean having more stainless steel surrounding the stove which is a much easier clean up. Also very quiet. It’s a big home cook I’m really enjoying it.

Our 20 year old Kitchen Aid cooktop was a dream compared to this. The faint little burner guidelines for pot size are ¥§#@* useless. It's always a crapshoot where the pots go until the burner glows. A stupid design. Each control knob functions differently, so it's very confusing to get the correct setting on the correct control. The actual cooking and baking have been great - such a shame that the range's great performance is totally overshadowed by gross, almost superficial, design flaws. (And the bottom drawer has far less capacity than our old KA Range)

I was told that it was insulation and that the smell would go away. It still stinks! I worry that it is carcinogenic. As well, the oven temperature is lower than I set it for. The door does not close properly..wider at the top than the bottom. The broiler drawer does not close unless banged. Similarly, the control panel buttons do not respond unless pounded. The oven timer only beeps Once. One single sound. What if I am in another room and don’t hear it?! All of our previous stoves, rang continually until we turn it off. Who wants dinner burnt?! This range is a piece of garbage!

The oven takes a very long time to heat up and the convection oven is poor. Everytime I use the convection setting my baking is wrong. The centre of cakes and muffins don’t cook and the outside burn. I feel let down, I had a service tech come out and say nothing is wrong. I don’t believe it, as the oven is never feels the correct heat when the convection setting is in use.

In less than four years we have had to replace oven elements, the convection fan and now the stovetop elements no longer regulate temperature and the oven doesn't maintain temperature. It's impossible to use the stove top on anything but high heat. The oven stops heating, leaving items inside unbaked. In addition, the self-cleaning function for the oven doesn't work. And the range top stains and can't be cleaned. It's a real disappointment that they produce such a poor quality appliance.

We got this four months ago and after three weeks we noticed the glass cooktop accumulated burn marks that should not occur from normal usage with recommended cookwares. We waited a couple of weeks to call and the technician who came could not identify the cause but recommended us to contact headquarters to get it replaced. HQ ignored our request saying its past the one month warranty, for an obvious quality issue. By then the glass top ware makes it look like its already 3 years old. More recently the largest range lost its inner ring completely. Its been less than four months and this stove is already in worse condition than the one that it replaced which lasted 6 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by *Cakes* from Too many other great features to mention. We bought our KitchenAid Range Model YKFEG500ESS8 in March/2025 and have not had any issues with it. Works just great. Really like the "Convection" feature for the oven. Will be very handy. Also like the space in the oven area, enough for three rack levels. The "Warm Zone" Element on the stovetop to keep cooked food warm is a neat feature as well.

New range does not compare in quality to our previous Kitchen Aid range which left us with high expectations. Range top is prone to spotting and doesn't clean up like older top. Disappointed that company did not continue with higher quality glass top. Bottom drawer is "tinny" and feels "cheap" which this range is not!. Obviously insulation of oven is inferior to older model and takes a long, long time to reach desired temperature. We felt confident in buying a Kitchen Aid range based on our past experience. Feeling disappointed.
