How to Make Hawaiian Shave Ice?
A simple and refreshing dessert, Hawaiian shave ice can be made at home easily. With the help of this guide and a KitchenAid® Stand Mixer with Shave Ice Attachment, this tropical dessert will become a breeze.
WHAT IS HAWAIIAN SHAVE ICE?
A refreshing and customizable treat, Hawaiian shave ice is made from finely grated, snow-like ice mixed with sugar, syrups, and toppings. It is likely that the recipe originated from a kakigori version that Japanese immigrants brought to Hawaii in the 1800s. As a result, the frozen dessert quickly gained popularity on the island and is now served at restaurants, general stores, and stands. As an alternative to "Hawaiian shave ice," some fans refer to the dessert as "shaved ice."
WHAT IS HAWAIIAN SHAVE ICE MADE WITH?
Shallow ice blocks are shaved into fine powder during the making of Hawaiian shaved ice. A colourful flavoured syrup is then poured over the ice after it has been gently scooped into a bowl or cup. Ice cream, mochi, fresh fruit, or a "snow cap" made of sweetened condensed milk are some of the toppings that some people enjoy adding.
