Rated 5 out of 5 by Doug G from This unit is a beast compared to our tilt head! I am a home baker and cook and have owned and used a tilt head mixer for the past 20 years. I was looking for an upgrade to a stronger unit so the 1/2 speed folding capability with the extra wattage motor and uncoated stainless steel attachments were what made me decide on this model. First impressions are that this is a beefy unit. See weight comparisons below. (On a side note when unboxing the unit I had my wife hold the outer box while I removed the mixer in its styrofoam packing. The flat beater is heavy and it fell out and put a dent in our hardwood floor. I would suggest taking it out on a carpeted area or put down some towels so you don’t end up like me.) I received it a couple of days ago and I have used it to do all my Christmas baking for the whole day. I am very impressed by its stability and it performed better than I had expected. It seems to mix everything more efficiently than the tilt head model for some reason. The half speed used for folding ingredients is awesome. The unit is way quieter when running as well which is an added bonus. It is typical Kitchenaid quality and I am looking forward to using it for the next several years. Rated 5 out of 5 by lebrick from Really nice mixer I have used this mixer everyday for a few weeks now, making everything from bread and pizza dough to cookies and mashed potatoes. It has done everything I've needed it to do with no issues at all. It's a very nice mixer, especially for the sale price, and I'm glad I got this one. The attachments are fantastic as well. Overall, I would recommend this 7-quart over the Pro-Line (for the current price of $200 less at least) unless you know you need the power of the Pro-Line. I know a lot of people were concerned with the AC motor but this machine is very quiet and, with the redesigned metal gearbox, has more than enough power for just about every task. Like I said, if you need the Pro-Line you'll know you need the Pro-Line, and for everyone else, I think this is the better option with a much lower price.

The lever to lift the bowl up and down does not work and when taking it out of the box I could hear something loose inside the mixer. I understand that there can be manufacturing issues but that is not why I give one star. When I called customer service, they said they were out of the color we ordered and I could not receive a replacement or return the broken mixer until the correct color/model is in stock. I have to call every few days until a replacement is available. Kitchenaid why can I not return the mixer now and you ship me one when it is in stock? Poor customer service!
