Rated 4 out of 5 by from New fridge It is a large fridge. Not many brands have a 72' fridge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great overall fridge Design issue--left side door may not close completely if the right is closed or closed first Have to do a door shuffle every time to make sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this produce again. I use this fridge for every day storage. The interior water dispense and ice maker are wonderful. The layout makes it easy to find items. It keeps items fresh and cold.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Water dispenser hit and miss. Water dispenser didn't work when unit arrived. Technician was dispatched and determined that the door switch was the problem. While removing the door switch, technician cracked the liner (see photos). Dealing with this for over a year now, and have been told numerous times that a tech would be sent out to fix the liner. But no one ever calls. Finally today I was told by Whirlpool that the only solution would be a liner patch which would look worse than the cracks, but if I wanted to go ahead they would send someone out to apply the patch. I said: "that's it, I bought a new fridge that you damaged before I ever got to use it and all you say is sorry, but we can patch it for you". And the supervisor I was talking with, said: "sorry sir, but that is the only solution that we can offer you, but I will make note of your complaint". The worst part is, the water dispenser only works about 95% of the time; every now and then you open the fridge to get a glass of water, and nothing! So, we have to shut the door and give it 20 minutes and then try again. Hate to bash this fridge, because there is so much to like about it; plus the rest of our appliances are all KitchenAid as well, and we love them. Too bad customer service wasn't a little better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fridge We have recently moved into a home that we renovated and purchased this fridge for our kitchen. We bought this same fridge 5 years ago when we re-modelled the kitchen in our prior home and loved it so much that we bought the same one again! This fridge is the perfect size, has great features and requires little/no maintenance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SOOOOOOO disappointed! Apparently, all of us who purchased this refrigerator are not very smart because we expected this to sit flush with our expensive built-in cabinets. The ad refers to it as counter depth and integrated. No way is this integrated, it sticks out like a sore thumb! From all of the reviews that I've read, KitchenAid has disappointed many faithful customers. This is my third KitchenAid kitchen and it will be my last. KitchenAid has done nothing but give lame apologies, nothing to really accept any blame or give any sort of consideration Shame on you KitchenAid!! Very, very misleading product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Counter Depth Refrigerator Love everything about my refrigerator. Counter-depth is perfect - I also had the studs turned to gain another 2-1/2" to recess the refrigerator further to align with the counters. Love the storage capacity, love the interior water dispenser, there is more than enough space for everything, and for keeping items easily accessible and organized. Food stays fresher, longer. Storage bins keep produce fresh, shelves are plentiful and I'm able to keep foods organized. Freezer drawers are perfect for organizing various shapes/sizes and find items easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit Our pre-retirement check off list consisted of making sure we purchased big ticket items that might require replacement in the immediate future. Our old fridge never fit the preexisting cupboard space and was showing some signs of old age. The requirements were tight, requiring a counter depth but shorter height fridge. The one fit like a glove. Apart from the fit, the interior is a design plus. With the personal addition of a few "lazy susan's" to maximize space for minimally used jars of sauces and condiments, the smaller cubic foot size is not an issue...everything at a quick arm's reach without moving things around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice - appearance and functionality are great We completely demo'd our kitchen and replaced everything. We selected 3 Kitchen Aid products for our new kitchen: double oven, cooktop, and refrigerator. One of the primary reasons we selected Kitchen Aid was the black stainless which is a great appearance. We also liked the features and functionality of the appliances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RE: Appliance Guy Appliance Guy is absolutely right. I sell appliances and I have been selling this model for 5 plus years straight even when it had the curved Architect series handle. In that time frame I have had one issue which was a sealing issue on the bottom freezer and that was taken care of with ease. This is an industry where problems arise people. Do you expect to buy a car and never have any issues? The only negative thing I have to say about this refrigerator is the black frame makes it hard to design around white cabinets or lighter cabinets in general. Otherwise keep up the great work KitchenAid!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from your salesman didn't do his job i am an appliance salesman and have this fridge at my house personally. This is a counterdepth fridge NOT a built in fridge. Kitchenaid did not mislead anyone the salesman who sold you the fridge didn't do his job in explaining the difference between a counterdepth fridge and a built in fridge. I could go on for days about this but after reading most of the reviews the problem is not the fridge it is either the salesman didn't inform the comsumer properly or the customer just ordered without knowing truly what they were buying. This is a great fridge and it doesn't deserve the reviews that his gotten. BY far hands down the most popular item i sale when it comes to counterdepth refrigerators. Has been for years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mostly a good product but a few definite design flaws While I would have loved to put in a built in refrigerator, it was not in the budget. this was still a spendy option but less than 1/2 the cost of a built in. The panels look great but the cost of having the cabinet maker build them and the cost of appliance handles probably added another $600 to the cost. Please also be aware that if you are looking to conceal the refrigerator a bit the panels of course help but the refrigerator itself, the sides of the doors, do show and are black. It worked with my design but definitely would be disappointing in some designs. I suppose you could go through the hassle and expense of painting them but again, added cost. Other color options would be nice. As for the interior, a HUGE disappointment is the fact that the glass shelves do not reach all the way to the back refrigerator wall causing items to fall off the shelves in the back to the shelf below. You can not store items with a smaller diameter near the back or they will fall to the next shelf and there is no way to adjust that. Seems like something one would learn in design 101 but definitely overlooked here!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Read all reviews fist This is a lovely fridge, trouble is its being sold as a flush mount panelled unit, see photos, it is not, it sticks out 4 inches, it cost me $12000 to fix the problem, do not buy, deceptive marketing, fridge for sale cheap!
Date published: 2016-06-05
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Watch out for door clearance Interior of refrigerator is well designed. Installation directions are less than helpful. They call for 1/2" space for the cabinet all around the unit. The doors will not open with 1/2" clearance. For flush mount of the custom panels, we needed 1 1/4" clearance for the doors to open.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not working I ordered a Kfrc300ess. It stopped working 2 says after the install. They came out to fix it. Maintained temp for 2 days then same problem again. Repair guy came out again. He ordered a part and got it working again. Now it has stopped cooling the frig and the part is not in so it can be fixed. I am very frustrated!!!! A new appliance should not stop working correctly 2 days after installation. .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Measure Twice & Think 3 times before you believe KitchenAide Be aware that Mfr's description shows that the KFCO22EVBL refrigerator comes with door handles. It does NOT come with door handles. You will spend another $200 on those (+ your cost to build your own wood door panels). More importantly, KitchenAide advertises that the unit is 36 inches wide. But due to its inefficient hinge configuration, the doors need a 39.5" span to open. Otherwise, your new wood refrigerator door panels will knock up against the new wood cabinet surround. So, you must have an ugly 1.5+" gap on either side of the refrigerator, if you want to open its doors. Alternatively, you can pull the refrigerator out from the surrounding cabinetry by about 4.5". Either way, it looks pretty ugly and totally destroys the purpose of a panel-ready, counter-depth built-in look. The photos shown by KitchenAide totally misrepresent how this refrigerator can be used. I think that most people receive their new refrigerator AFTER their cabinetry is already built. I did. I had to retrofit my brand new solid cherry cabinets, trimming an inch off the styles on either side, in order to make this refrigerator usably fit. I thought that was a better choice than to leave the refrigerator sticking out like a sore thumb with it's black metal sides exposed by 4.5". The refrigerator works as described.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a Built in!!! First, to the contractor who says to build a deeper area to slide it in..... yes, it would look great in a photograph, problem is, the doors would not open. Kitchen Aid has not learned to use zero clearance hinges on this refrigerator. The way the information on this appliance is presented is very misleading. I would think that Kitchen Aid would have a little more integrity and be honest about this being a built in.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Would not purchase sgain This is my 4th Kitchenaid frig but it will be my last. More cheaply made than my other ones - didn't even come with a butter keeper for the door. It is not counter depth - it extends out 5 inches so the hinges work. It looks terrible. The pictures online do not match the product at all. There is no "ExtendFresh Temperature Management System" and the interior shelves don't miss the description.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 'Black band' solution We had our cabinet maker create 1/4"-plywood pieces in the same finish as the door panels, and then attached adhesive magnetic strips to the back of the pieces. They hold to the sides of the doors and freezer drawer and create the custom finished look that everyone is hoping to achieve. You just have to measure below the hinges and inside the gasket seal for a proper fit. (Approx: doors 43 x 2-1/4", drawers 23 x 2-1/4")
Date published: 2016-03-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Depth of unit black band To respond to purchasers who complain about the "black band" showing, I blame that 100% on installer error. I am a building contractor for 35 years, and if it's the flush built in panel look a client is after, it's obvious by the closed unit dimension without handles, which l believe to be 27.5", common sense tells you a pocket needs to be constructed behind the fridge to allow the unit to become flush to the wall and base unit doors. My advice on a resolution, research your contractor's experience in kitchen installs. This is NO WAY a manufacturer issue, more like contractor /home owner ignorance.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE We purchased this fridge hoping to have the built in/paneled fridge shown in the picture. Instead we have the same hideous 5 inch black gap that everyone is talking about on a white paneled fridge. Building in a refrigerator is not cheap and time consuming, so what a disappointment and loss to then not be satisfied...all because the appliance design doesn't enable your cabinet builder to make the job right. When we purchased this fridge for our kitchen the reviews on this site did not yet exist and now....they do. For all of our new appliances we put a large effort into researching to try to put the best things in our forever home. Such a disappointment.
Date published: 2016-03-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Door issues I am an interior designer and am letting all reviewers know that the black body of the side door and refrigerator can be painted with an all surface enamel to match the cabinet panels. The door side and refrigerator then disappears. This is a great alternative for someone who wants the built in look without the hefty price of a top compressor model.
Date published: 2016-01-22
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design This is not as pictured. It's a black refrigerator! It was returned before being installed when we realized you will see the black body on either side as well as the frame surrounding the panels, and the unit must be pulled far enough out for the doors to clear the side panels so a lot of black shows. Kitchen Aid should rethink this.
Date published: 2016-01-01
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Fridge - Such a disappointment We bought this fridge for a white kitchen. The refrigerator that we received was black. This fridge is designed so that in order for the doors to open, there is a metal part of the refrigerator doors showing. As a result, there is a black outline around the refrigerator. This outline shows even after panel installation based on the fact that the doors are black and the fact that the fridge has to stick out of the hole for the doors to open. This is FALSE marketing! Do not buy this refrigerator if you plan to put it in a white kitchen. Never again kitchen aid!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This picture is deceptive - black sides show I too am very disappointed that the sides (which are black) stick out and show next to my white cabinets. I had custom cabinets built to the specifications and this has been a nightmare. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So disappointed!!! I am placing this review on again. I placed it on yesterday but did not find it today. I wish I had read Gigi's review before buying this refrigerator. We are so disappointed because it is being sold as counter depth when it actually protrudes into our kitchen 5 inches. We had beautiful panels and handles applied but the protrusion with 5 inches of black on the sides is unsightly. The paneled doors hit and mark the cabinet every time we open them. This all seems to be false advertising. We bought an entire KitchenAide kitchen so that it would all match. Our cabinets were made to specs, this is so disappointing. The picture on this site is supposedly not this refrigerator at all, but a built-in per our appliance dealer, as it perfectly fits the cabinet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So disappointed!!! I wish I had read Gigi's review before purchasing this refrigerator. We have the exact same problem, the refrigerator sticks out 5 inches into the middle of our brand new beautiful, expensive kitchen. The pictures on the website are false advertising and deceiving. There is no way the refrigerator doors can open on that picture. The doors hit and mark our cabinets even when out 5 inches. This is in no way a counter depth refrigerator unless you do not open it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from counter depth fridges are smaller in some areas, but very ni had an issue with the door, however replaced and so far okay

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Panel ready refrigerator at a bargain price We looked at all panel ready refrigerators and decided the Kitchen Aid was the best value. We were not prepared to spend thousands more to have a refrigerator that blended well with our new cabinets, so the Kitchen Aid became our favorite. Nice interior quality and ample room for our needs.
